Update to come!

Wow! Much interest in the Unremarkable House with the recent return of the X Files to "home turf." The house is not in Pemberton, and I am sorry I cannot say more about it than that. I am looking forward to chronicling the new season/reboot--what are we calling it?--later this summer. After school is done.

ciao!

A Quick Update

I am not 'neglecting' this little blog, but until the movie comes I out, I can't link up any more location shots. When the film is out and I'm able to, I will head back up to Pemberton and take some more pictures. I hope to go back this winter as well, although some of the terrain will have changed due to things such as housing developments going in. Also, some of that snow was created for the film - like we didn't have enough lol - so i can't promise an exact match.

The house known as, "Monica's House." I've photographed the house from the front/road. What you see in the trailer, with someone running away, is the house shot from the side. Thanks Quirk's for the great close up which shows the house from the side.

These shots show the area around the house - where you see some of the action in the trailer.
This shot of Father Joe is shot from the back of the house. Thanks to Lyle for the screen grab, and to Quirk for a much better picture, (including snow!) of the house.

The Unremarkable House

This was the day after - I didn't dare try for a snap shot the day they were filming.

Snowy Road

This screen cap from the trailer is a road by the golf course in Pemberton. The pictures which follow are from the same area. We walked as far back as we could, (a much easier walk this time around), taking a 'best guess' as to locations that might show up in the film.

A Few more.....

One more from the top of the cliff:

Setting up at the foot of the cliff, along the highway, earlier in the evening:

This is a shot of the area they were setting up to film (as above):

More Car Crash

Very hard to see without the snow and with the development going forward, but this is the are the car crash, or parts of it, were filmed.

More Car Crash and a Geek Moment

I have the most patient, indulgent husband, and it was while we were scouring the cliff side as I tried to identify the exact location of the shoot that I discovered . . . car parts. Not just any old car parts. Props. This shot is the 'before' picture. Yes, before I moved them to . . . well, my ever patient husband didn't say a word. He just meandered over to the car and got a box for me. And he didn't laugh.

Car Crash

The road you can see - yes, a rather rough road, was the path the snowmobiles followed as they went back and forth between the crew trucks and the side of the cliff where they were shooting.  The next picture is the side of the cliff where the car crash occurred.
The road you can see is part of the Benchlands subdivision closed to allow for snowfall accumulation. If you will recall from the Whistler Question article, they wanted to: "turn the road into a riverbed and stage a car crash that comes over the edge and lands in the riverbank."

The Field Search

This is one of those 'fan-girl squee moments' - yes, even someone my age can have one. In the recently released trailer my car is visible on the side of the road. It tickles me, because Belle and I, (she was with me that day), didn't take a single picture. So, in a round about way, we do have a picture! If you look very closely - yes, grab a magnifying lens -  my car can be seen. Follow the line up of FBI vehicles, go past the large space, and voilĂ , there I am, black car behind the trees.

You will have to imagine the snow, the dark skies, and the cold. It was really cold. Hmmm.....this is more accurately described as a woodshed rather than an outbuilding or small cabin. For the keeping and chopping of wood. And other things, perhaps?

Crossing The Road

Crossing the road. Yeah, I know, it's 'fake-not-real Mulder,' just wait for the film and you'll see the shot. Just remember to add snow in that imagination of yours. Lots of snow. Brrrrrrr

The Wrong House

This is the house used as the 'wrong house.'

Snowy Field

The field as it was back in February, before the big snow melt. In this one, the barn is to the left. The top picture is shot from the road at the fence line where the snowmobile stunt drivers had fun and where we saw the helicopter shots.

Helicopter/FBI Search Field

I've chosen this field picture for two reasons. First, this is the area used for the helicopter scene filmed with the FBI search team. If you watch the trailer you can identify this part of the field by the trees and mountains in the background. The picture following this one has a glimpse of the building further out, behind the trees, you can see in the trailer if you slow it down. Secondly, this is the field searched, though it is filmed coming from the other direction, looking out from the mountains towards the barn and road.

You can see the white roof in the background; this is the building you glimpse in the trailer.

The Red Barn

Though the field is now bare, this was the location of the FBI search, the one you see in the teaser. I've included this shot because along this fence line, which you can locate by the post visible above, is where the snowmobile riders had some fun with their machines. It made me nostalgic for my friend Kim's 'back 40,' and corn roasts in the dark of winter. Oh, and snowmobile fun. Lots of fun.

Mulder and Scully Welcome You to Pemberton, BC

Mulder and Scully welcome you to Pemberton, British Columbia, home for the XF crew for approximately three weeks. Though the field is bare now, it was buried in snow back in February, 2008. This is the scene of the FBI field search, complete with helicopter. Did anyone else get a sense of deja vu upon seeing that helicopter flying overhead? It was all so . . . x-filey to me. Thrills and chills and smiles . . . oh my!
